Censorship ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!
Concerning the removal of NSFW content from content creator platforms such as Itch.IO, Steam, and other platforms containing authors expressing themselves:
Capitulating to the credit card companies over sexual content is worse than banning books from a library for it's content. Fictional works are just that, fictional. Banning it's content base on someone else's conservative views is simply puritanical. It's an infringement on the rights of the authors to express themselves as individuals. In the U.S. it is an infringement of the 1st Amendment.
It would be ok to make safeguards that make security tight around the sales of such content, so that age verification, and rights waivers can be verified before payment is made, but outright banning the content is wrong. Shame on any platform that capitulates to the payment processors in this regard. Shame on the payment processors for capitulating to a single campaign of 70000 people who don't necessarily speak for the other 7 Billion people on the planet.

I understand more content creators are making videos, which is a very good reason to search before posting as there's dozens of threads about this.
If you are unhappy with Visa or Mastercards decisions, you can contact anyone involved in making that decision from information in this active thread here;

Stores / payment processors are not obligated to do everything a customer wants unless changed by law, and SCOTUS has previously sided with businesses on not having to do things they don't want to associate with.

I am fine with it. Perhaps contact the game developers to see if they are willing to make changes to their games, such as a user has done here

It would seem that Valve is slowly damaging their reputation. And Gabe with his "win by doing nothing" tactic will backfire on him big time...

They need a functional ID system, like everywhere else people purchase porno or adult content.

A credit card is not ID.

Until these specific companies who choose to sell this type of content has a verifiable ID function, the more the hammer is gonna drop.

Not only that, i think these "content creators" may be blatantly lying to people.

How does a handful of people in Australia, have any say in how trillion dollar companies do their business. A business they may have practiced for the past 30 years.

This has nothing to do with a handful of activists. These sites need to have a verifiable id system if they are going to sell adult content.

If not, don't sell it. And that's what Steam is deciding to do. Not Visa or activists.

In this instance even with years of forewarning. This online seller made no effort whatsoever. To effectively childproof their platform. In order to continue selling explicit goods. For years to come. They made this choice long ago.

While I am glad to see some of the smut removed from this family friendly platform it would be better if it could still be sold on an adult platform that can be accessed by adults only with ID checks etc. What we don’t need is far-left feminist groups dictating what can and can’t be sold to members of the public.

Well, what's happening now?

It's being banned entirely.

If the weird, disgusting smut had just stayed on the dark parts of the internet where it belongs, maybe you'd still have access to it.

But nooooo, you had to sell it on a gaming platform. Well, reap what you sow.
