Beware! Steam Scam: Fraudsters Invite You to Teams and Ask to Rate Skins
Recently, there has been an increase in scam attempts on Steam involving unknown users adding you as friends. They may invite you to join a CS2 team, participate in a tournament, or ask you to rate skins in the workshop. Be careful — this is a SCAM!

How does the scam work?

Friend request – A stranger sends you a friend request.

Offer – They may invite you to join a team, participate in a tournament, or ask you to evaluate skins.

External site – The scammer sends a link that leads to a phishing site that looks like Steam.

Data theft – If you log in to the fake site, scammers gain access to your account and can steal your inventory, change your password, or modify email bindings.

How to protect your account?

✅ Do not click on suspicious links. Steam never requires you to log in on external sites.
✅ Check the URL. The real Steam website always starts with https://store.steampowered.com/, https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/, or https://help.steampowered.com/.
✅ Do not enter your credentials on unknown sites. Even if a site looks like Steam, always verify the browser address.
✅ Enable Steam Guard. Two-factor authentication through the mobile app will protect your account from hacking.
✅ Ignore suspicious offers. If someone asks you to "rate skins" or "join a team," think about why they chose you.
✅ Report scammers. Use the report function in the scammer’s profile to warn other users.

What to do if you got scammed?

If you accidentally entered your credentials on a phishing site:

Immediately change your password on Steam and your linked email.

Log out of all active sessions in Steam settings.

Contact Steam Support through the official website.

Stay alert and protect your accounts! Share this article with your friends so they don’t fall victim to scammers.

OP, you missed the hundreds of other warning threads here. What do you think another one in the pile of ignored warnings is going to do?
