Cannot repurchase a game
Hi I foolishly bought Warhammer Battlesector from CDKEYS. When I an the game it crashed whenever I completed a mission, the game crashed and so I cant progress. I contacted Slitherin and they told me my key wasn't registered so they wouldn't support me. I have removed the game from my library (after uninstalling) and tried to purchase via Steam so I could be sure I had an official version, but Steam won't let me buy an new copy as I have already had this game in my library (even though its deleted). Any suggestions?

rebuying it would be pointless, it is the exact same download as your original key. go to support and re-add the game to your account (select the "its not in my library" option.)
Removing a game doesn't fully revoke the license. You have to do a refund to have the key revoked.

Since you went to a gray marker site, you are essentially stuck with it.

Also, if it only gives the option to download from Steam, then it is a legit copy. The issue isn't because of the key.

Sorry about the second sentence - I didn't check before sending. Should be 'when I played the game it crashed whenever I completed a mission, so I couldn't progress.'

Using a cd key to activate a game I steam and download a game provides the same files if you bought it on directly on steam.

Remove game is more like an advanced hide. You will not be able to rebuy it as your account already owns it. It will always tell you to restore the game.
What you can try is issuing a chargeback on the purchase from the shady key site. If that works properly and the purchase wasn't too old for a chargeback, you would get a yellow account alert notifying you of the license being revoked and then you can make the purchase on Steam.

It 100% does not matter from where you got the game, the files you download, install and play are the exact same ones.
So if the game crashes for you a lot it would also crash the same if you bought it on Steam.

There is ZERO correlation between the purchase origin of a Steam game and the files you get.
Its always the same.
I'm only referring to the devs refusing to help due to the shady key that was purchased.

This happened because op did not get from steam. Another reason why not to buy from shady grey market sites. Learn from your mistake OP and do not do it again in the future.

A third party gray market key reseller likely does not have access to the publisher key revocation feature.

Funny thing: if people weren't so keen on telling their life stories, their support wouldn't even have known where you got the game from...

Still that site should not be used. You were lucky to even get a working key, and it STILL might get revoked eventually if it was purchased via credit card fraud.
Thanks all - I'll just reinstall from the original
