Reasons people get banned
Other than the obvious reasons I am curious as to why I sometimes see a post by someone that it shows "banned", then maybe a short while later, I see they are back posting. If I look at their profile, many times they seem like, well, not someone that would get banned. Maybe I just don't have enough experience to understand how these things work.
I mostly lurk in the forums of the game I might be in just to get some hints and ask questions, and even if there are occasionally "fights" (this game sucks vs no it's great, etc..), I don't really see any offensive posts.
I'm only asking because I see some names that look familiar (after having read some posts for a specific game or discussion), and then I see "banned". Then the next day or week I see them posting again.
Just curious about the logic or is there some AI stuff going on. Yeah I'm old lol so not in tune with modern forums.

Diffuses a situation that may have started to become inciteful or name calling and was reported by a participating member.
The offending posts are deleted so you'll never see the reason looking like that. And since the ban can come from a variety of threads / hubs depending where you see them banned, it can be quite hard to tell sometimes.
Because they are not bans, yes it is that simple. They are just time outs, I have no idea why they call them bans. Set knows I have them stacked like cord wood.

I get them for hurting feels. Seriously, this is a forum member flag system, so posts don't get reported for TOS violations, they get reported when some one's feels get hurt and the time out is for some sort of TOS violation.

I'm a sardonic, abrasive, condescending, old smart ass, I get them on the regulars.
These bans never last long, maybe a day the first time. It escalates the more often someone gets banned, but that takes time. Unless it’s something really serious – then it can sometimes be a permanent ban.

It also depends on whether people even bother to report someone. If nobody does, nothing happens. ^^

Some games also have their own moderators who act at the discretion of the developers, for example, Dead by Daylight.
