Toxicity on steam community discussions
Is it normal that people call each other pedo, wish deaths, ragebait each other to get banned and that steam support ignores every report on it?

Do what you can, flag it and move on.
Something that helps is using the key words to get the AI's attention.

disrespectful content include:

Insults or harassment
*Threats or encouragement of harm
*Trolling or baiting arguments
Discrimination
Bypassing word or content filters
*Public accusations towards others

off-topic content include:

Spamming
Posting topics in incorrect hubs
*Re-posting closed, modified or deleted content
*Derailing a discussion or topic {
oh that is so me, I live on a tangent}
Bumping threads

To write an effective flag report, you must clearly and concisely explain how the content violates Steam's Community Rules and Guidelines.

Types of content to report

Offensive language: Anything that is racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise abusive towards individuals or groups.
Harassment: Targeting specific users with negative comments or personal attacks.
Spam and scams: Repeatedly posting irrelevant content or attempts to defraud users.
Review manipulation: Using multiple accounts or bots to post fake positive or negative reviews.
Misinformation on a store page: False advertising or misleading information about a game, especially concerning key features like VR support.
Illegal or inappropriate content: Links to illegal software or pornography.

AI is such a double edges sword.
*: one's I see most.
And lord I wish that misinformation one applied to forum posts.

Valve decided to outsource moderation, this is the result.
valve removed the "no politics, religion and prone to huge arguments" rule and outsourced moderation, then support and moderation started using "interpretation" of rules (for each staff member), instead of enforcing rules, according to definition.

thus we have people being allowed to break rules daily, while others arent, or others are simply being banned for not breaking rules...

not to mention lopsided punishment, between allotted times (punishment time), infractions, or between users.

template responses like this (below) are made so they can ban at will, whether you break a rule or not.

"This post contains content that is inflammatory and likely to create arguments, rule violations, and other non-constructive replies. This type of content is not allowed on the Steam Community."
or..
"This post contains content that is combative, argumentative, or is likely to derail the discussion. This type of content is not allowed on the Steam Community."

in the end, this is the state of the forums, for years now.....

i once was punished, for asking a person to "please, block and ignore me".

anywho, good luck, be safe and have a nice day

OT but seems to be a thing funcom did the same with the Conan forum. I had to raise hell to the point I got a 30 day time out for threatening to use the flag system as a weapon. They changed the policy so I may have lost the battle, but won the war :steamhappy:

I just came off a 2 week time out from the pubg forum for a joke, yet toxic posters are there to stay.

No, seriously, some one started a thread about the removed utility belt and I posted a video of batman's utility belt, 2 weeks off. Some one has no sense of humor.

Are you excluding your post history for any particular reason?

same thing happens recently on reddit discord and any kind of chat form with a moderation system that seems to be ai bot generated. for example, i got banned from entire discord for telling age joke on a roblox server that contains a single ''8'' random report it and boom account locked due age issue, even though its connected to my 2002.30.09 google account and even though done set same date when account creating.

like everytime you want to say anything online theres some troll who ragebait and make u get banned.
other one: pubg mobile/pubg pc
game is amazing zero hate zero troll just a pure skill based shooter.
then go talk about beautifull game i have played share my tricks and clips... NO! troll come up saying ''erm what a sigma'' ''calm down buddy'' to everything you say and then ping mod and boom banned not even 1s in server. this is ridiculous how social media went downfall last years.

That was happening on Reddit looong before AI moderation was a thing and has more to do with an ideological shift than it does AI.

I'm taking you meant toxicity on Steams forums, and not toxicity on the steam community forum, because I honestly don't see this forum as toxic. While I'll grant you some forums are hell holes, and that trolls migrate from one game to the next. In order to instigate and farm those Jesters.

This forum like most is fairly benign, civil, and plodding. Emphasis on the most perhaps even the overwhelming majority. Even the nicest city has it's seedy alley where bad stuff goes down. The point I'm making is this if you insist on going to those places.

The problem isn't with the forums themselves, but you wanting to wade waste deep into drama. There might be a couple dozen rotten forums out of thousands. In other words if you avoid just a handful of bad forums. All you'd experience is a lot of civilized conversation.

If someplace is nasty, and I'm not welcome. I don't want to go there. What's so fun about getting angry. What the insomnia, the headaches, the shakes, the self recrimination. When you take it out on an innocent. Instead of complaining about those places. Stop wanting to hang out there.

Stop going to where people make you angry, and start going to where people make you happy. I've found when a forum sucks, and the community is just awful. In the long run I'm happier for moving on. Being fixated like this isn't good for your mental or physical well being.

The question isn't whether it's right or wrong, but whether it's healthy or unhealthy. I'd encourage you to step away from an unhealthy mindset. These people shouldn't matter to you, and honestly you shouldn't give them this power over you. There are better healthier places to post.
Only shortly after the rules loosened, community mods were retired, and a massive campaign was launched in an effort to make Steam a worse place for everyone in the hopes of breaking loose market share that would-be competition can gobble up.

But that's just my guess. I could be way off base. It could also be growing pains. I've seen it happen to countless Internet communities since the 1990s. The bigger they get, the more insufferable.

Meanwhile having fun from game and community being toxic what now, you tell me to go where I enjoy but if community toxic and game not then how can I even speak about game?
So I have to just go random forums not even related to what I enjoy or do just because there's a nice people and on forums I'm interested in toxic so I have to avoid them even though those are connected to what j enjoy? That doesn't make any sense, why would I need to go random forums just because of 1 toxic guy who won't get banned from 3028949ppl forum?
