Why isnt the use of SAM somewhat enforced?
There are plenty of people who use SAM to fake achievements. I can easily browse anywhere on steam and find people with 50-hundreds of games "perfect" yet many of their games are clearly cheesed. (same date code, low hours, etc.).

I realize steam cant stop or detect sam but it wouldnt hurt to hire a small team of people to focus on this for 1-2 hours a day. In 1-2 hours I can probably find 20 or so profiles with fake achievements. Strip these losers of their achievements and ban the use of using achievement showcases.

This can amount to hundreds if not thousands a week by a small team and easily start clearing steam of this crud.

Games used to sit at .1-.5 percent of the lowest achievements. Atleast ones with hard to get ones.

Now I see most games by day 4 have .5% of all achievements. So having anything under .5% is even rarer these days because almost nothing is not boosted by sam.

At the end of the day I do enjoy doing achievements for myself. Ofcourse I wish sam didnt exist and think people should earn it. If you care so much to showcase a game at 100% then just do it? Or atleast try at faking it.

Just kinda sad steam doesnt care about forums or anything steam has going for it. I fear one day steam will become the myspace of social media.

Achievements were created by Microsoft to sell Xbox Live service, nothing more. Once that service became free, they stuck.

Achievements are a useless spreadsheet. Nothing more.

I still chase after them if they're difficult to do, because overcoming a challenge and hearing that noise make happy brain chemicals enter my brain.

Im glad you think they are useless but some people enjoy them. They enjoy collecting them. They enjoy marking their progress and having a reason to 100% a game. Just because you are closed minded and you personally dont enjoy hunting achievements does not mean you should bash it and say its useless.

Imagine if everything that some people thought was useless didnt exist. Then nothing would exist.

So with that said, I really dont need people commenting how achievements are useless or pointless anyway.

All your doing is gaslighting something you are biased and not interest in. Go elsewhere and take your negativity to your hobbies which are probably just as useless as achievements.

Dont worry man, no reason to let this guy or their mentality ruin achievements for us. It absolutely is fun and dopamine hitting to get achievements. Everyone loves to collect them. Usually the haters are people who dont get very far in video games. Hmm without say anything lets take a look into his profile, hes either private or doesnt get far in his games. Go take a peek.

I mean, I never saw this ...but still they can atleast ban profiles that are blatantly throwing the stats off.

Most if not 99.9% of steam users will never go into their steam files to actually make it appear they achieved something. Most normal people dont do that. And these trolls that use sam really are intelligent enough. So they can easily ban people with obvious profiles. You cant stop it but you can enforce it.

The fact he just gives up because its not something doable. That doesnt mean you give up and dont combat the issue? You dont let the cancer grow. You atleast fight it...right?

You're free to enjoy them as much as you want, doesn't make them any less useless.

They were created as a marketing gimmick, nothing more.

Even all my perfect games, I didn't focus on unlocking achievements, I just played the games and got them.

But calling something useless, because it is, is not gaslighting. You fell for the marketing, that's on you. You get a dopamine hit from collecting them all, that's fine as well.

In that logic, anything in life is useless. Except food water shelter and similiar things.

Achievements are not useless to me and many others as it creates a tool for fun and accomplishing things in the game. Its also creating a steam profile with games you like and showcasing you beat them. So there not useless after all as they dont do nothing.

So achievements are just as useless as actually playing video games. Playing video games are useless then too. Great we are all being negative here today. Glad we can do that.

You are gaslighting, because I can go up to anyone who does anything for fun and enjoyment and say its useless.

What are your hobbies?
Flaak (Banned) 17 Sep @ 7:42pm
Are you saying that anything that provides a dopamine hit is useless? Anything that provides satisfaction? How about a measure of capabilities.

Achievements are important in games as well as in real life to mark ones progress and continuously improve. As a gamer, I believe im well rounded in many genres. How can I prove that without achievements?

See just because you are closed minded, doesnt make something you dont have interest in useless.

I'm not sure how chasing pixels on icons is in any way useful for anything, sorry. I play games to enjoy the games, not chase icons that mean and do nothing for me.

Achievements have never been important either. You may feel different, but doesn't change the fact that they are not in any way important.

Again, they were created as a marketing gimmick. That's it. To get money. To make you pay to get them.

SAM will never be changed, since SAM just does the same thing you can already do in the client without it.

Games do not sell based on achievements. Achievements have no meaning outside of the artificial meaning people put into them.

They aren't important in games.

This is correct, while they can be tied to difficult tasks which makes the dopamine flow... they're sadly usually just, "Press forward to walk. Hit the start button on the title screen"

LOL WHAT. That is so untrue.

First of all if you are dictating sales based on achievements..then you are digging into something I dont even like..and thats achievement spamming. Playing games that take 5 minutes for 2000 achievements. There are also games that take 10 hours or less that only have high sales for achievements.

So if you are basing importance on achievements affecting sales then you are wrong bc many games are sold to achievement nerds who just want numbers.

I personally go for games that are very hard.

Secondly, achievements are absolutely not straight forward. Yes some are and some are just story related. But most games on steam have hard achievements only 1-5% of the players get. If they were that simple then everyone would get them.

If you really believe that look at my profile..most of my games are full of beat on nightmare/insane or some sort of challenge that most players will not touch.

If achievements arent important then neither are games themself. You are talking a complete fallacy.

Video games and entertainment as a whole is just as un important as achievements will ever be so i really cant understand the logic here.

Again, most of you hating just cant accomplish diddly squat in games and suck at beating achievements. So you get hurt and fight it by saying their meaningless because quite frankly they measure ones skill and thus making it important because they tell me how bad you are.

That is important isnt it?

Imagine caring about achievements to the extent that others cheating for them actually bothers you.

Who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cares? They don't mean anything and never will.

For going after games that specifically have hard achievements, you've not a single one in your perfect games list...

In fact... many of them are short games..

Oh, and for someone complaining about achievement cheaters? Your OSRS Achievements are very sus. 6 hours played, to unlock all of those? Two quests completed same time, from two different areas of the world?

Huh... Funny that.
