Question about my friend's profile page

I've been really curious about this. One of my friends has a profile page that is completely blank now. It was never an elaborate page, but it was set up and listed as private. I used to see him on TF2 pretty regularly, but one day I noticed where he used to have a profile picture, it's now blank with a question mark. His username is also 17 random-looking numbers. And his account says he's been offline for 36 days now. Does anyone know what happened? Did the account get banned, hijacked, or deleted?

I don't see anyone on your friends list with a numbered blank profile though.
