Even Steam admits that the number has meaning when they keep releasing new tiers of game collector badge to go along with the ever-increasing number of games on Steam.
Though at this rate I'll lose my 2K game collector badge again. What's even the point now?
i miss the good old days when people werent so obsessed over numbers
nobody is trying to decide for you but Valve cannot please everyone
Peon #1: Hey let's put a game count on their profile (which doesn't mean anything) for them to obsess over.
Gabe: Cha-ching!
Peon #2: Oh, and a badge (which doesn't mean anything) also!
Gabe: CHA-CHING!!!
Is this some kind of twisted joke, Valve? Are you really crapping all over your customers now? And this is before the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Summer Sale as well. Bravo!
Edit to say: In the future before buying a game here, check on the right side of game site, just under Achievements, if there is a grey box saying "Steam is learning about this game" don't buy it, since it will not count in Your Library, nor will You get a Perfect Game or Achievements, just stay away from those game.
If you bought the game on Steam and didn't refund or get an automatic refund from Steam it should count on your game list whether the game is defunct or not.
Licence expiries are obviously a problem but shouldn't affect game counts and achievements.
Games being cancelled altogether means that Steam's screening of games is totally inadequate. One hundred games represents roughly 0.5% of Steam's store and that's a significant number to cancel outright.
S.x.
It's not a "snafu." The games have not been removed from anyone's library. They just don't count towards your game count anymore. That's because they're trashy, asset flip games that existed only to exploit trading cards or a bejillion achievements for people wanting to brag about all of their "perfect games" from games that just give you hundreds or thousands of achievements simply by running the game.
So for all the people complaining about the quality of games on Steam, Valve is doing something about it.
Sure it is, I even listed why in my post. You can not like it all you want, ain't going to change.
Hell, add to that you posted on a public forum making it EVERYONE'S business. Want to rant, go start a blog.
