For how long will Steam games keep vanishing from my total count?
I just lost 3 more games this morning. In the past two days, there have been 47 titles which vanished from my total game count. I know that they're still in the library, but they've been rendered completely useless from a collector's perspective. In fact, I'm not even certain that it's worth "collecting" removed Steam games at this point since they are as valuable now, as demos (no option to feature the game's activity on your profile).

I am seriously losing my motivation to further support Steam through my presence (time+money) and writings. Seems like a complete waste of resources, since Valve doesn't seem to care about its customers at all. What's the point of buying games if they'll end up discarded daily by the Steam API?

Maybe don't fill your collection with the results of people taking a dump on the store and buy games that you actually care about owning and playing instead of wanting to wave around a big number that doesn't mean anything.

That's for me to decide what I wave and care or what it means for my own Steam profile. Hit the bricks.

Even Steam admits that the number has meaning when they keep releasing new tiers of game collector badge to go along with the ever-increasing number of games on Steam.

Though at this rate I'll lose my 2K game collector badge again. What's even the point now?

Gabe: We need a way to get people to buy games they'll never play.
Peon #1: Hey let's put a game count on their profile (which doesn't mean anything) for them to obsess over.
Gabe: Cha-ching!
Peon #2: Oh, and a badge (which doesn't mean anything) also!
Gabe: CHA-CHING!!!

Another batch of 56 games disappeared, but where the hell are my DLCs? I had over 1300 in the total DLC count!!!

Is this some kind of twisted joke, Valve? Are you really crapping all over your customers now? And this is before the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Summer Sale as well. Bravo!

75% of my DLCs are from AA and AAA games. Those are games I PAID for and expect them to be treated like proper titles and not shovelware. Unless the API rights this wrong and brings back my DLC showcase, you've lost a customer, Valve.

Here You can read why: https://i.redditmedia.com/p-tQpQgNihuP8S-ac5mGc-mRSeDKJPQjDodHrCsvUWk.png?s=ecf9f006a3dba85c1aec64d2fc540e6f

Edit to say: In the future before buying a game here, check on the right side of game site, just under Achievements, if there is a grey box saying "Steam is learning about this game" don't buy it, since it will not count in Your Library, nor will You get a Perfect Game or Achievements, just stay away from those game.

I hear you, Harlequin and I agree with that post and your point of view. If my DLC count wouldn't have been restored already, perhaps I would have wrote more on this topic. But I'm tired of this thread and utterly disgusted by the practices undertaken by troll devs which in turn triggered Valve to this extent. If shovelware shall be purged from the Steam Store, I bet collectors will feel the sting nearly as hard as those aforementioned "developers". And we don't deserve that.
This is pretty tawdry of Steam - or more likely a SNAFU.

If you bought the game on Steam and didn't refund or get an automatic refund from Steam it should count on your game list whether the game is defunct or not.

Licence expiries are obviously a problem but shouldn't affect game counts and achievements.

Games being cancelled altogether means that Steam's screening of games is totally inadequate. One hundred games represents roughly 0.5% of Steam's store and that's a significant number to cancel outright.

S.x.

It's not a "snafu." The games have not been removed from anyone's library. They just don't count towards your game count anymore. That's because they're trashy, asset flip games that existed only to exploit trading cards or a bejillion achievements for people wanting to brag about all of their "perfect games" from games that just give you hundreds or thousands of achievements simply by running the game.

So for all the people complaining about the quality of games on Steam, Valve is doing something about it.

Lost 30 more today from the total count. Great job, Valve!
I agree.VERY great job Valve. I'm very glad they are removing these crap games from peoples counts so they stop wasting money on them and the jokers making them stop.

How I "waste my money" is not your concern though.

Sure it is, I even listed why in my post. You can not like it all you want, ain't going to change.

Hell, add to that you posted on a public forum making it EVERYONE'S business. Want to rant, go start a blog.
