Permanent Account Restriction
I am writing this on behalf of my fiancé. Steam is refusing to help and i'm not sure what to do at this point. His account got permanently restricted. No, he did not buy that account. He's had it for ages. He has been recovering from two major surgeries for the past 2 months and has been asleep for the majority of the time, unable to get out of bed on his own, let alone play any games. He recently got back on his feet and noticed that his steam account got restricted. I did some digging. Some games showed up on his profile. last played on Oct 15th. A day i know for a fact he hasn't left his bed. Some steam achievements were unlocked around September 21st. Another day i know he wasn't on his computer. Steam is not helping. All they say it that they won'T help and this is permanent and final. Another account with the exact same username showed up in his friendslist. There is people on his friendslist that he does not recognize. His discord got hacked a few days ago. Someone has been on his Steam account. It wasn't me and it wasn't him. Someone also changed his steam username. He's restricted from using the community, buying new games and some other things. We tried everything... There is no direct way of contacting Steam Support to get this handled...

In best scenario, account is still compromised and they are waiting for an recovery attempt. In worst, it was used for scams or fraud and is now perma banned.
If a hijacker used a payment method and that purchase was charged back, that restriction may never be lifted.

:nkCool:
Just thinking it over in my head but had he by any chance used one of those tv/internet combo things that can be pulled over yourself whilst hospitalised in bed? I know in the very distant past when I’ve been in that situation a few times I’ve used them to log into forums (without realising the impact keeping cookies on a public computer can have as I was to messed up on oramorph to know what I was doing) and in terms of steam, you can always log into the steam browser on those public computers so it’s technically possible to have your details stolen by the next patient or any of there visitors.

Ive personally found steam suport to be very helpful when I’ve had problems, not always able to change things but empathetic at least. I don’t think they check the forums regularly as moderation etc is outsourced to a professional/paid team…have you emailed steam support? ,you shouldn’t have to share personal info with companies out there but if it was me, I’d show them proof he was in hospital that date using hospital letters if need be, and show screenshots of when these changes to his account happened if possible-is he able to go on his account to change it or is it totally locked down? I don’t know what a ban looks like in terms of steam.

I hope you get something sorted out, gaming is good therapy for the mind when your physically laid up,it gets you outside of those four walls so as someone with a spinal injury I can relate and empathise with you both very well.
