After a while it tells me that „steamwebhelper“ failed to load and gives me 5 options. None of them do anything though.

same with me. set up my iMac 2 hours ago and steam teels me "steamwebhelper" failed to work. i am glad i´m not the only one with this issue!

Just dropping in to say I have the same issue. Just got a MacBook M1 Pro and installed Steam.
Let's hope it's a new issue that just popped up and will be fixed soon

Same problem here.
I tried to install steam on new out of the box MBP 16 m4pro OS:15.6.1 (24G90)

Steam does not open at all. After 30-40 second I get the screen with 5 options. None of them help.

When I go to apps right click "show contents" than go to

Contents > macOS > steam_osx

it runs in terminal and sometimes it returns this:
