steamwebhelper
"steamwebhelper, a critical Steam component, is not responding. The Steam UI will not be usable. Click here for more information.

Let's try to help:

(*) Restart Steam
( ) Restart Steam with GPU Acceleration disabled
( ) Restart steamwebhelper
( ) Exit Steam

None of these options fix the problem. I have already downloaded and reinstalled Steam.

I'm stuck.

After a complete system reboot from a cold restart Steam worked again. [Self fixed?]

Yeah, the first time I installed Steam, the install instructions stated I had to reboot at the end... they meant it. Steam would just not work for me until after I rebooted.

I'm not completely sure what Steam needed to install, but I'm guessing it had to install software for lower level hardware access which would then necessitate a reboot.

If it doesn't respond when opened, click the file located at /Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS/steam.sh. Then you'll be able to use Steam.
