Why is this still a question? Egg, its obvious! Fish, Dinos, Reptiles, and plenty of other things laid eggs before the chicken came along.

Because it still does not answer a more clearer question; Which came first, the man or the woman, the male or the female of every species that is needed to make new life?

His answer was based on an evolutionist's view or concept. Its no better than what religious folk claim on how life started.
Every one that is asked the question will either ignore it or dodge it with a concept.

Its like that other question seen; What is the meaning of life?
And the same way of answering or dodging it is the same.
