My favorite warriors ever are the Spartans. Tell me what yours are.

Ninjas. I have always liked Ninjas. Samurai would be second.
EpicRome23 16 Dec, 2012 @ 7:52pm
Yeah. Ninjas are cool.

I can't decide... the Spartans were great, the Romans were awesome, too, the Samurai had a kicka** code of honor. I'll also mention the Gauls, Germanics and medieval Muslims, since they actually understood the rush of battle.

i'll go with my ancient viking ancestors. they drink, they pillage and they loot. what more could you ask for?

I also think Romans are awesome. I don't have any favorite modern day armies.

They're all armed the same and mainly fight guerrillas these days, anyway.

Exactly. That's why I don't like them very much. Very little variation. I also like the Mongols. And I also liked Carthage with Hannibal leading.

Yeah, Genghis Kahn's Mongol army was the freaking pinnacle of pre-gunpowder warfare, and Carthage was the last truly great power Rome fought before its collapse.

Can't belive I forgot to mention Alexander's Macedonians.
EpicRome23 16 Dec, 2012 @ 9:16pm
Wow. I also forget to mention them. Is there any we have not covered yet?
Ultimate Anime GF 16 Dec, 2012 @ 9:36pm
Plenty, but many of them don't figure into big-budget action flicks.

Constantine XI Palaiologos and the troops under him gave the last literal remnant of the Roman Empire a dignified end.

Good point. I also like Beserkers.
Ultimate Anime GF 16 Dec, 2012 @ 9:42pm
'zerkers are the very embodiment of the RUSH of battle that the Classical Greeks and Romans failed to understand, but nonetheless conquered through discipline and astuteness.

We seem to have similar opinions on our favorite warriors.
EpicRome23 16 Dec, 2012 @ 9:45pm
The first forum I had failed. Just like the fact that all the great empires eventually failed.

Everything "fails," eventually. How many breakups and reunifications has, for example, China gone through during the whole of its history? How many does it have ahead of it? This is why I like the Ourboros symbol: I don't think I could count how many different ways it applies to how many different aspects of actuality.

Speaking of China: Sun Tzu!!!
