If owning a gun is a right….
… then why do we need a permit to own a gun? If that’s the case then wouldn’t owning a gun be a “privilege”?

Disclaimer: Of course it’s different from state to state. I’m speaking generally.

It’s a honest question. You need a license to drive a car, yuh? So it’s a privilege. But you also need a license/permit to own and carry a gun, yuh? But it’s a right?

America, explain!!!!!!!

Guns should be legal but ban bullets
Rights come with obligations.

Gun ownership is protected by the Second Amendment. Car use and ownership is not.

You raise a very interesting question. Why is the Second Amendment the only one that states are allowed to restrict more than the Federal Laws? For example states are not allowed to restrict the First Amendment more than Federal Law allows.

Strictly speaking it's not the right to have guns. It's the right to bare arms. You're allowed to wear a tank top and/or a vest without covering up your arms with sleeves.

it's the right to bear arms not have guns just like you have a right to live and a right to drive and drink as soon as you turn 18 and 21 respectively. not much to confuse. having the money to own such things and do such things due to their high cost simultaneously makes them a priviledge.

Because all rights have responsibilities.

And some responsibilities affect the health of others.

I have 7 guns. When the hell did I get a permit for any?

Shall not be infringed. What part is so hard to understand? The "shall not be" or the "infringed"?

Technically I should have 9. But 2 were given away
Morrandir 16 Sep @ 12:46pm
the second amendment is about the right o bear arms, so you can get bear arms without a permit

I get what it says. It’s just… why can’t you go to the store, just show your ID that you’re a legal adult, and walk out with a gun?

As for voting you can vote as long as you have a voter ID card. Why not just make a ID for guns? Heck… some states don’t require ID at all to vote.

My brain is mush just thinking about it.
