Nintendo Switch games are crazy expensive.
I just had a moment of delusion where I thought about buying a switch 2 just to play legend of zelda botw and legend of zelda totk.

I knew the price of the console and was expecting the games to be around $40. Both games are going for $70 each... wtf?

botw is like an 8 year old game ffs. This is crazy I cannot believe people would pay that much for any game that is designed for a hand held device.

I'm sure the game is amazing and it cost a fair amount to develop but I think they'd fetch way more income if they priced the games at a reasonable cost, it would make more people buy the console and games and potentially lure people into their ecosystem for other games and products.

Instead now I'm just going to get it for free via an emulator. A potential customer lost due to greed. I don't mind really mind paying $500 for the switch 2 console, but $70 per game? Hell naw.

And that is why PC is the superior platform.

The content matches the price especially for TOTK. And on switch 2 the occasional lag is reduced. Borderlands 4 just got released and has content hidden behind a paywall so the full price is around $120. Lots of other triple AAA do the same crap. Your case is literal b/s.

I would normally berate you for piracy, but then I remember this is Nintendo were talking about who as we speak are filing frivolous lawsuits against palworld and insane patents that can ruin the gaming industry completely.

Sail away with no regrets! Nintendo is pos
Nintendo likes money, if you don't spend it on a game they will just file more patents to prevent other games from making money.
Check out Elden Ring this copycat Skyrim game is still selling 60$ on Steam as of today even after 4 years since release

1. Elden Ring is nothing like Skyrim.
2. The game goes on 30% - 40% sale often, nintendo games almost never go on sale and when they do it's 5% or 10% at most.

You are right. Skyrim with mods is even better than Elden Ring

Nintendo changed when Satoru Iwata passed away. Nintendo is nothing more than a law firm that sells video games now. They are akin to ferrari, what do i mean by this? well nintendo products dont really go down in price (same as flagship/limited run ferrari models). Their lawyers ruthlessly and meticulously monitor their IP's and Products, often legally pursuing them and those who are accused of infringing on said IP's.

Nintendo as an entity now only exists to maximize profit. The consumer is little more than a wallet or a number on a profits chart.
Game prices can feel insane, especially when an older title still costs as much as a brand new one, but that comes from how Nintendo conditions its market — they know their fanbase will pay because the games are tied to nostalgia, exclusivity, and the sense of magic only they create. From a bigger view, it shows how value is not just about age or hardware but about the meaning people attach to an experience. The frustration makes sense, yet greed and attachment are part of the same cycle. Infinite possibilities mean you can choose: support the system, wait, emulate, or walk away. True freedom is realizing no price tag controls your joy.
waiting for sales is also key. Most of my games are $30, big name game like pokemon is about $40

They are cartridge based so you can buy them used from Gamestop. IMO that's the best way to do it.
Imagine giving money to Nintendo #3
