What was life like for you before YouTube, Steam?
Back in 2013, I posted this exact same question on this forum, and just recently, I received a notification that the thread had been locked after a few new comments appeared this year.

The lingering interest in the topic inspired me to revive it. So, share a glimpse of your life before Steam, YouTube, or even the internet existed. What was daily life like for you back then, and what do you miss most?

I was happier back then, like genuine happiness. Nowadays feeling happy while using the internet feels a bit artificial in comparison.
Game guides in non video form were much more popular.
Wow was life better!

I miss people being human.
better -ish
A positive of YouTube is being able to hold authority figures, such as police responsible for their actions with the public, with the ability to record or livestream interactions.

I might not be aware of the existence of Civil Rights Lawyers, if not for youtube.
Work, school, small town drama, watching TV.

#Boring stuff

That might be one of the best parts.

I may be watching some of the exact same ones.

My feed isn't for most. It's made up of real estate, law, finance, science, DIY...

When I go to t go to other people's houses and see the stupidity and whacko $*&^ that they are clicking on... Yeeesh!

Now you know where they are getting all this @*&$ nonsense from.

Going places and doing things because arcade and 8 to 16 bit games as well as shows and movies were BORING! Same as they are now. Could do only so much of that for so long, an hour was TOO long. We went places, we did things, we found people and activities, events.
Napster. It had a very useful auto-resume function so if a download was interrupted I didn't need to start the download again.
I definitely had more of a social life back then, but I'd be lying if I called those days "better".
