Also, the only "safe" places on earth at that moment would be the rotation poles, the exact poles. Staying there would not throw you away, just spin you really really fast and you'd probably need time to recover, but you'd be safer.

For one we would fling to the opposite direction and get smashed. But if we did somehow survive all of that then the sun would be setting on the east instead of the west.

Oh, you'd notice pretty quick even if it was gradual. Earth's rotation is the largest influence on our weather systems. Plus that extends the period of time in which the sun slows down before coming to a complete stop in the sky, baking one side of the planet and depriving the other until it picks up speed again.

The sun would rise in the West & set in the East.

I wonder if the rotation would affect the moon though. I’m in deep thought now.

If you were at the equator you would instantly fly at 1670 kph towards your previous direction.

I imagine it would affect the ocean currents and jet stream, so Europe gets as cold as Canada, perhaps Vladivostok would become a summertime retreat.
