I ask my students if they're enjoying themselves on trips; not trying to get into their pants (college kids, but I am both very married and very creeped out by the idea of crossing that line).
If the question escalates to anything else, that's a better tell--but just asking someone if they're having a good time is pretty neutral in the lists of love.
“Hey, having fun without me?”
"Hey, having fun yet... or is that my job?"
"Hey, are you having fun? Or should I come over and spice things up?"
"Is it just me, or is it getting more fun now that I'm here?"
The real sad thing is people can not normally ask basic questions without people thinking they are ether creepy or so on now a days. Unless it is a guy asking a guy a normal question or a girl asking a girl a normal question.
That goes for any and all friend requests.
My wife says I'm insufferable, but she knows it comes from a good place.
