its in early access. but the variety of things to do even for a single player game are kinda nuts considering its price tag and how early it is in it's development.
I really liked Axiom Verge, Blasphemous, Golf It, Downwell, Geometry Wars, Minimum, The Mummy Demastered, Neon Ultra, Ori and the Blind Forest.
Planet Crafter. made by 1 French guy. His wife helps. There's an extra planet coming out on DLC soon and I will get it.

Good strategy. Wait for a sale then buy them all up.
Since 2015? at least 100 or more
As we age the new stuff doesn't capture our imagination like the old stuff did. I've played LESS than FIVE NEW games within the past fifteen years. By play I mean REALLY played them, enjoyed them. Trying isn't the same as playing. I think STAR CITIZEN was the LAST game I ACTUALLY tried to play but it didn't impress me.

The problem became... these games aren't anything new to experienced players. The engines and graphics are new but the games aren't.
No Man's Sky.
Just avoid known publishers and developers for the most part and you'll have better success at finding good games.

Examples (but not limited to) of companies to avoid completely: Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, 505 Games, NetEase, Tencent, Epic, Take-Two, Nexon, Embracer, Square Enix, Capcom, Sega, Perfect World.
Some really solid recommendations here!

I think you're onto something here but there still aren't many immersive sims with the depth of Deus Ex 2000.

The AI in FEAR and Halo Combat Evolved hasn't been surpassed by modern games.

Gaming hasn't really evolved and the only ones who push the envelope eventually sell out, Arkane, Bethesda, Obsidian, all Microsoft owned now.
