I lived in Ukraine about 10 years ago and it's the same deal. if you venture away from the main population hubs, they might "not like you around dem parts" and it becomes more like Slavic deliverance.
also if you're planning to move to a new country, make sure you know someone there because it can get depressing if you are there by yourself and have no social outreach especially if it's a different language and the culture is different from what you're used to.
