Gatekeeping is a good thing
Hear me out:
I think gatekeeping is good because if we allow everything to come in it's going to make things worse. I've heard a lot of people tell me they HATED Bendis as a DC comics writer. A lot of people agreed that the latest live action Disney aren't true to the stories or make since and a lot of people hate how it's all a cash grab.

Gatekeeping to some extent is good, but that doesn't mean you can't have an imagination or have WHAT IFs on it but when you have people making new content and adding in their own narrative then saying, "WHAT IF WE SHIP......" noooooope, shut the !@#$ up!

That's like my friend sending me conspiracy videos on Pokemon, Ed Edd N Eddy, or Rugrats and I'm like, "did the writers say it was true? No? Then no."

That kinda sh!t annoys me.

there is no gatekeeping from the berserk community. because all can be strugglers, and all can overcome their trauma and darkness and find happiness again

I don't think I'd call keeping canon and fanfics separate "gatekeeping."

Gatekeeping's more like "no, you can't like this show if you haven't been here since season 1!"
