These series are low-cost, but manage to create multi-generational connections between characters and the audience. Many people enjoy these shows because it brings them some sense of enjoyment and peace in their lives.
Originality doesn't matter when you regurgitate the same algorithmic and format driven tropes over and over, denying freshness or sincerity.
It's why the fortnite guys are off making their own marvel movies.
