Hybrid ideologies and US dictatorship
It's pretty clear conservative governments are transitional to authoritarian governments in the 21st century. That transition is called hybrid, which is the process where democracies are stripped of oversight, institutions weakened, judiciary serves the president and presidential powers empowered. Examples:
Turkey = Erdogan, Hungary = Orban, USA = Trump.
These are listed in descending order according to how far they have progressed, with Turkey having had more time to weaken democratic pillars.
You can't include Russia because they never fully developed into a full fledged democracy but there are similarities. Trump will not live long enough to see the dictatorship rule. There are too many checks and balances put in place by the Founding Fathers to dismantle, although I'm sure he thinks he can just stomp all over them like he's inclined to do.

Where were the checks and balances when Democrats were forcing people to take the covid vaccine or lose their jobs? All those checks and balances doesn't do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ when Democrats want something done apparently.

Nobody gives two-♥♥♥♥♥ about leftist/Democrat doomerism, which is and has always been rooted in ignorance.

We all saw what you cheered and supported, which means all what you're talking about now is merely political in nature (ontop of your boo's meaning nothing). Sour grapes from people who put all their support behind an alcoholic DEI candidate.

At least Trump was elected by the people and is doing what he campaigned on.

Democrats didn't even have a choice in choosing their candidate for the last election.

The No Kings Protest that happened recently is the perfect encapsulation of leftist mentality on display; a bunch of brainwashed idiots who've been living in their own information bubble for so long they don't even realize what reality is, or what a king is for that matter.

The fact that nobody was arrested and none of the protests were shutdown really makes it hard to believe your living in or on the cusp of transitioning to an authoritarian state.

Yet where were all these No Kings protesters when the government was forcing people to take the covid vaccine or lose their jobs? Protests all over the world happening as a direct result of covid policies and how did the governments react? Debanking, arresting and doing all they could to shutdown the protests.

At least pay attention to recent events. It helps put into perspective and give important context to alot of issues that Democrats love to lie about.
Ok, Canada.
Well the big difference is, when you talk of those eastern bloc countries, Hungary as an example never really knew Democracy. For decades of communism and fascism.

Turkey as well has been an authoritarian state, as were the Soviets.

We are not used to authoritarianism in this country. And of the most you can cite is a No Kings Protest, i suppose we should be thankful.

I do not know how to live under authoritarian rule. To have to answer to troops for my ID, if they come to raid my doctors office.

Or to have masked Gestapo like figures asking me for my papers being i'm olived skinned.

Or what i can say, here on the internet, or on a phone.

For we Yanks, who pride ourselves on Freedom, and fought for it for others, i tend to want to ask my Russian friends how to do things or go about these new realities. But they cannot answer obviously.

I fear in my elder years, never seeing this before in this country, younger people may find this the new normal, and that is what makes the future very dangerous imo.

You are comparing taking a vaccine with losing your freedom? I would say losing your right to vote would be a tad more important, just saying. This is why republicans love the "poorly educated" (Trump's words, not mine).
Truth and freedom lose when simplified and outdated worldviews triumph.

Liberty is no longer important to republicans. The statue in New York should be returned to France. Looks like they ditched constitution and fiscal responsibility too. Canada will remain democratic for Americans who feel betrayed by their government.

Wow guys, as it turns out the people shrinking the size and spending of government are the ones on the path of authoriatian!. Oh, wait, that's not how it works at all.

Javier Milei has certainly shown that the size of a government has nothing to do with whether it's authoritarian or not.

I've seen it described in many ways: Kakistocracy, Ochlacracy, Fascism, Nationalism, McCarthyism, "red scare".

Stargate SG-1 called it "Origin", and its proponents the "Ori".

The Bible calls it the "Mark of the Beast" (666), the "Red Dragon" of Revelation 12, that which is preceded by the "falling away".

In the United States of America, I have observed a deeply emotional tie to a particular branch of religion, one that was fomented through racism, and emerged through love of one's elders.

The Stargate-SG1 example seems to suppose an element of the rejection of any history that contradicts the emotional attachment to the romanticism of one's elders. Those who reject the creation story (i.e. "Origin"), are considered to be heretics.

This romanticism seems to be on display in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film "Thor: Ragnarok". The titular character, Thor, discovers the true history of his people, not the romanticized version which inspired his concept of morality and worth. And subsequently establishes the spirit of symbolic weapons like Mjolnir, Excalibur, and Zelda's "Master Sword".

Romanticism of the past, out of love of one's elders, would seem to be an expected trait of "conservatism".

Curious how all the "checks and balances put in place by the founding fathers" clearly outlined the fact Trump does in fact have the authority to do the things he has been doing, which usually gets reaffirmed by any court higher than a district court. The only example they can seem to give is firing members of departments under the authority of the executive branch, or deporting people as outlined by existing immigration laws passed by congress.

Trump feels the constitution grants him supreme power over all other branches. So he ignores court decisions, house roles, and seems poised to ignore the 22nd amendment limiting presidents to two terms,

Trump feels the constitution grants him supreme power over all other branches. So he ignores court decisions, house roles, and seems poised to ignore the 22nd amendment limiting presidents to two terms,

He ignored court decisions that higher courts have ruled those lower courts had no authority to make. Case in point is the very low court in Rhode Island trying to order the Trump administration to fund SNAP, which the executive branch doesn't actually have the authority to do. So, given how many of those judges get overruled almost immediately by higher courts, Trump isn't the one overstepping. He does in fact have the authority to fire people within his branch of government. He does in fact have not only the authority, but his actual duty is to enforce existing immigration laws by removing the ones who break them.

This is why bleats of authoritarianism fall on deaf ears. It just makes it obvious that people screaming about it fail to understand the most basic of civics.

Also, you proved my point. You have no examples to back your claim, just vague feelings on the matter.
