Dishwasher Safe

bleach. dishwashers are one of the few things that can drink it without dying. i wonder what's going on inside their digestive tracts. those pipes have got to be hiding some big secrets from us.

Grandma's dentures
Stainless Steel or walnut chopsticks but most people do not know how to wash them in the dishwasher properly. I simply use hot water and soap on a sponge.
Pretty much everything except wood, cast iron and carbon steel stuff.

And knives. Even cheap stainless steel should be handwashed if you want them to last.
Supposedly cutting boards should be handwashed with baking soda and vinegar to penetrate into the cracks.

My new dishwasher specifically instructs that bleach can not be used.

well nevermind, nevermind... guess they can't afford ultra thick metal plating that resists getting burnt off by detergent anymore. there's one less big secret in the world...

Most of the internals are stainless steel and it isn't a low-end appliance. The concern might be with the shelving and plastic parts. Long term, those probably will last longer when not exposed to harsh chemicals like bleach.
