Need Your Thoughts on this Drug
I bought Equate Non-Drowsy Cold & Flu (Orange Cough Syrup)

When I drank some - it still makes me feel drowsy

I tried the premium brand as well

still feel drowsy from it

Are we being lied? Is it just me being too sensitive to drug reaction? What's happening here

What about you chat? :gordon::headcrab::headcrab::headcrab::headcrab::gman:

The brain produces a chemical called histamine, and it controls how awake you feel. This is why antihistamines typically make people drowsy, because that chemical is blocked in your brain by them. In the case of this medicine, it doesn't have antihistamines in it, meaning it shouldn't block that chemical, therefore you shouldn't get drowsy from it. However, everybody's made up of chemicals of varying degrees, and people will have different reactions to the very same medication. Perhaps your brain is under-producing histamine, and so you do get sleepy despite taking this medicine. Conversely, if the medicine has caffeine as an ingredient, in which to keep you feeling awake, it may not matter because, again your body may react differently to caffeine as well. Etc.

But I'm not a doctor, I only play one in OT on the weekends. :wee2rena:

Did you just double dose by chugging a mouthfull of both? You might have some horrible side effects so brace yourself.

Take according to the instructions including the amount and time between doses. There's also a thing about continuing for a certain number of days without resolving your symptoms.
Also if you don't have a cold or the flu you shouldn't be taking it.
When i drink energy drinks I get drowsy, i think we're all being lied to

I knew this comment was coming by a Mile

No, I took the proper dosage and only once a day only 1 time
Have you considered that its not the medicine, but whatever you are taking it for that is making you drowsy? Such as you are tired from the cold/flu symptoms instead of the medicine?

I heard drinking caffeine when you have ADHD makes you sleep
one should notify the pharmacist at the store it was bought from, and apart from getting the money back, the entire production run may be removed from shelves.

that kind of mistake is what causes workplace accidents.
Many "non-drowsy" meds have caffeine in them. And caffeine doesn't affect everyone the same.

Maybe caffeine doesn't have a stimulant affect on you. I knew a couple of people like that.
The professional medical advisers aren’t on OT on the weekends.
The medicine isn't there to kill the bacteria, but to make your immune system go into overdrive whether you have the energy for it or not.

i'm not 100% certain how you can draw these conclusions from this thread about <medicine that is not working as intended>, but very cool lol

To answer your question, dextromethorphan can cause drowsiness in larger quantities.
Drowsiness can also be a sign of fatigue, meaning your body wants to rest so it can fix its self, which is very common when sick.

That being said: Calling a forum 'chat' is a new level of brainrot
Now I am le tired.

Please feel better, OP. Stay hydrated. And if you're tired, you're tired. Maybe your body's just letting you know that you need to rest. :ss2heart:
