who cares how old they are, we are having discussions here, why lock all these threads for no reason? "to prevent confusion" what does that even mean?!?

prevent confusion on whether or not the post is brand new or really really old, see the definitions on necroposting i guess
if people still want to talk about the subject who cares how old it is?

They lock it even for casual discussions or forum games irrelevant for the time posted.
Are you trying to be ironic on purpose about not necroing threads and your user name.

When Jesus returns he will be locked by a moderator to prevent confusion.

People may become too confused otherwise.

Now that's one true conspiracy.

Those threads died a long time ago. What you had was one troll necroing every old thread he could find. They seem to have banned him though because his posts in those threads are gone.

Valve, learn how to auto lock old threads already.

Its selective, it just usually means the topic is inconvenient.
Better yet, why even allow commenting at all if they're getting locked anyway?
Spammers trying to bury threads by mass bumping. Pretty obvious what's happening.
It always happens when political threads become active.

Honestly permabans should be issued for repeat offenses.

One person just went into like two dozen necro threads and posted something completely vague or irrelevant in order to bump them to the top of OT. They're only being bumped by some troll.
If mods hate necroposting so much, why dont they just automatically delete posts older than x years.

Just locking a bunch of threads, some even as recent as july for being "old" is asinine.
