Not to Jinx it, but This Forum...
May be the only forum, or one of the few on the internet that remains sane. I was out of Steam for a while, Red-dit is now an algorithm-locked website with "kind" people filling the content. 4-Chan is chaotic and there is a lot of ♥♥♥♥-posting and tribal wars, not recommended for a sane mind. And the remaining federated forums are all ideologic echo chambers and safe spaces.

My time outside Steam changed my mind about how much freedom there is in its forums.

And yes, you're welcome to offend me. I almost miss that.

Overall despite all the downsides, OT remains a fun yet nonsensical forum where meaningless & spontaneous arguments can surge or good game / movies / series / animes, etc can be found.
Welcome back @OP

Gamefaqs is dead and the few users that are left are activists that are out of touch with normies and they are too busy circle jerking in their mod enforced echo chamber.
I wouldn't call OT "sane," but there is a certain sanity to the fact that it adamantly refuses every norm we can get our hands on lol

Reddit has never been more than a groupthink circle-jerk of narcissists who take credit for everything under the sun

The chan died the moment moot decided he wanted to be zuckerberg and it all went up in flames. New management is basically just a grooming operation

"Mainstream" social media doesn't even try to pretend it has any strategy besides propaganda and marketing bombardment

Bot alts are the main plague here, and they're kind of amusing usually. The cyclical and repetitive political soundbyte wars I could do without.

But I'll still take that trade over the other 'options'

That is the same pattern everywhere. When something good is going, a bot army invades to discredit and degrade it, and to force algorithmic moderation. I don't think those are normal people's bots, maybe an organization.

But since Steam is private and has paid access, it will be difficult for them to ruin here too, maybe that payment is what's keeping it intact.
Yeah I am continually surprised by the nature of the Off Topic Steam Forums.
It defies all current standards.

No algo. No shadowbanning. Moderate levels of AI slop.

Basically eParadise.
imho OT is a bot/alt filled sewer of awfulness and click links.

If you actually think that, then your definition of sanity is very generous.

What looks "sane" on surface can be more crazy than anything else. I'm not deciding from surface look

Yeah, there’s a lot of delusional fruit loops on OT. They are constantly trying to culturally appropriate and subvert gamer culture.

from what little ive seen of this place sane isn't what i'd call it lol. some posters definitely belong in an asylum under constant supervision.

but sometimes nice posts which is rare in reddit etc where you're forced stuff down your throat based on what it thinks you like .
I wouldn't know, I've never used those sites. Too bad they suck though, would be nice if we didn't end up with all their refugees here.
