Final Fantasy 8 you can probably find online for free and Secret of Monkey Island.

FF8 = Alternate Reality starts off at an academy of soldiers / mercenaries . Has a very much a college atmosphere type of place that happens to specialise in combat.
Massive storyline.
Keep a notepad handy so you know can put down where you are meant to be headed for the next part of the storyline - just the location name.

Secret of Monkey Island = point and click adventure one of the most well known and I go back to it every so often.
It is the inspiration for Pirates of the Carribean - quite different but you can see the seeds of it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 wasn't bad.
