Is it me or is "PC Master Race elitism" making a comeback again?
Not that I think it ever left, and I'm sure some people will say it's always been around, but I get the impression that lately, especially with UE5 games and hardware these days, it's become popular for PC gamers to mock other people's rigs just because they struggle to run a game. Let's just get this out of the way once and for all that even then, it was ALWAYS about the mockery and insults and NEVER about people actually helping or caring about someone being able to play a game better.

And yet apparently, it's now become popular again to insult people for their hardware just because they struggle to run a game. It was never "cool" then and it sure as hell isn't "cool" now. There's a reason the "PC Master Race" thing even became a thing to begin with. Yahtzee Croshaw used it in one of his review videos as a mockery and criticism of people using their PC rigs as some kind of "bragging right" and insulting others simply for having "weaker hardware". I don't get why it's become popular now to start doing that again.

Yes I am better than you if my PC's specs are higher.
But we are all better than the filthy console gaming peasants.
I mean I saw some of that when the whole controversy about Ready or Not coming to consoles, although it was mostly about the censorship, I saw some who wanted it to be a PC exclusive
It's because 5 year old consoles are going up in price also.

Classic satire. Honestly, if it was done more often in a joking and parodic manner, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, plenty of people genuinely feel that way.

Like there was ever a doubt. >_>
It's really not. Not for we console folks view anyway. There used to be a time where the PC elitism was at it's peak, particularly in regards to console users.

But i think the Crossplay features, and the way PC and Console has integrated over the years, have made the two groups "like" eachother, mainly because they make friends.

Another issue is that PC gaming developers used to stay away from porting their games to consoles.

My start here on Steam was "that guy". And it was not a pretty sight trying to convince the "PC Master Race" in having their "precious" come over to consoles. Now almost everything is.

And so, no. Quite the opposite actually.

I guess I'm referring more now to the elitism displayed between people with 4090s and 5090s, vs people with ANY "weaker" hardware or specs. Basically, not even necessarily towards people with 3060s, but even people with 4070s or 5080s. "Upgrade your potato" was and still is part of that "PC master race" snobbery that people even then displayed towards those with weaker hardware.

The only reason anyone's setup struggles to run games made today is the horrible optimization in engines like UE5 which it would seem developers expect people to spend hundreds more on a GPU to get around. Don't play bad games like that and pretty much anything in the past 5 years should run anything.

Yeah, well i have a "micro PC" and play some games on that, and some on Ge Force Now thru Steam, on my Xbox.

And yeah, a couple people have ribbed me about it here. But they know i'm old and dont have vast tech knowledge lol. And so the way they see, it figures.

But at times i have to go to the Help section, there is no shortage of people looking to help me on issues. Very helpful people that got me out of a few binds.

And so i guess i just don't see people having arguments about "who has the better PC" as much as i used too.

And on the up side for PC players, they don't "judge" what type of games we play.

In fact i'm the immature one to come in and say "eeew, you play cartoon games" or other matters, that PC folks seem to be more open and mature about than we console users.

There never was a PC elitist movement.
There was just people that could afford a gaming PC and people whom could only afford a home family entertainment system.

It is like trying to talk about having a gun instead of a knife, is gun elitism, because the gun is obviously more advanced.

It's more like consoles are getting more expensive, getting less exclusives, still need to pay for online play, consoles are worse than ever.

the games are equally ♥♥♥♥/not ♥♥♥♥ pretty much anywhere you play them

Obviously people who can't tell the difference between RTX5000 and RTX4000 or any architectural difference and surely their PCs are nothing impressive.

Peasant donkeys.

Thanks for proving my point though, unless that was supposed to be satire.
