The hype around Hollow Knight: Silksong
Can someone explain why there is so much hype around this game?

I've heard about it coming out from many places, but no one has brought up the topic of what makes it special. Unless its only special feature is that someone, somewhere has been waiting for it... what was it? Seven years?

Why do people have so much love, anticipation, and even postponed releases of other games? (I briefly glanced at the product and I can't say that anything caught my attention. The visual style is not very good for me, and otherwise it's just a Metroidvania game?)

I believe it had been in development hell for years, since 2019 and a lot of people liked the first Hollow Knight

I can’t hate it because I haven’t played it. But from an objective standpoint it looks like a very simply platformer game. The design is kinda cute and I can see why casual players might like this game. But since I haven’t played it myself I can’t give my own opinion on it.
I don't get it either, just another game from the metroidvania fad.
The average is a ton of people, and they have average taste

It wasn't in development hell, Team Cherry was just taking their time.

I think the whole crew is like 4 people. That coupled with the game being hand drawn adds a lot of time.

Cuphead took a out the same amount of time from announcement to release.
Hollow Knight was a pretty solid game, so people are just excited to see what improvements the new game has over it.

If labubu, dubai chocolate and stanley cups are any sign it's that anything at any time can become a popular craze so long as you have the influencers. Human beings are so easily led around by the nose.

Consolers use controller to play sidescroller, it's all they have.
I don't get why people like HN either but it is definetly popular, maybe i just played it on the wrong platform (switch) and its actually fun.

I'd prefer a labubu game tbh
Isn't that a cartoon like game?
its one of those trends that stimulates forum activity and activity on social media in general. It will fizzle out.
