Sometimes you can have an actual discussion, but that's rare.
Steam got scared though, after of being accused of "censorship" and also didn't want to spend anymore resources on moderating political and "political" posts.
There was no rule, they just went along with this thing.

Well, to be more accurate, forums were very forgiving toward left leaning ideas and very unforgiving toward anything coming from the right side. The political subjects weren't forbidden, only one side was forbidden to speak his mind.
When it changed, obviously, the ostracised for years side taked a bit of a revenge and everyone now act like "it was better before", it wasn't, it was just more hypocritical.
I got a series of manuals to complete.
Several Game projects to get the XP and curve just right / combat mechanics of each to perfect mathematically with the RNG too.
My Empire on Total War is looking a little ropey because the economy system on it sucks and with this version there is no instant cash cheat.
And I am too scared to go onto Mordheim in case my awesome gang of mercenaries get killed off.
Oh yeah, Twitter X is hell alot better than this farmville. Real people have real conversations is exactly what I like. Steam even after allowing politics and religion, it still didn't erase the "censorship" that the moderation has on steam. Twitter X on the other hand has sensible moderation.
and as individuals we also occasionally enjoy an argument even if it isn't around a topic we enjoy.
Just my guess.
This is a gaming platform, not a central park orange box.
i don't think its worth our time to attempt to understand the broken minded.
i would say the main draw to this type of person is that steam is one of the last few places where a user can create infinite new accounts.
however, if the united states people with a self-destroying sense of empathy keep demanding steam moderate itself even harder, we may see a return to the 'politics / religion = instantly banned' situation that once existed. or perhaps the removal of the forums altogether.
wouldn't that be a hoot.
Preach on, exactly what I have been saying. However trolls always pops up from out of nowhere and shooting the narrative down. We all knew better than to believe the left leaning slop.
You have no idea how bad it can be on those "real websites", as it's often a permanent ideological war with a lot of lies and hypocrisy, just like here if not worse. Bothe looks the same from my point of view, the only difference is, on "real websites" peoples here are more involved and have actually readed some books on the subjects. But that's all. :')
