As the move towards personalized ads, and Id of people. They may know who buys things and who doesn't. Specially if we move to a tracked digital only currency with expiration dates.

Some people, no matter how many ads they are served, adblocked or not, won't spend money.

They'll know not to offer you free services, because you never spend money anywhere,

Like advertisers will know you are a waste, and not want to pay sites to serve ads to you. Meaning sites won't have a reason to want to let you use them.

Atm this largely isn't possible because we have cash money and no online id. They have no way to know you don't walk into a store, pay cash and walk out.

Big Tech wants a world where you can't access the internet without sitting through ads.
Someday they may go as far as outright blocking anyone that circumvents them- but that's the worst punishment I could see.

Seeing as the elites want us to own nothing and get in the cages, I think the minimalists will be fine. It's the consumer class who won't be so fine.

The average citizen ? lol, look at the other end of the pyramid.

The average citizen wishes they could spend 10% of their passive income and be able to purchase a luxury iate.

Ah. I was thinking "design" and not "lifestyle".

Though I suspect people living the minimalist lifestyle are few and far between outside of the Buddhist monk community.

(Excluding Chinese Buddhist monks, of course.)
