Games That Can Only Be Played with Controller?
Is this something new here?

I don't remember ever seeing this before this year but now, it seems like several of the games I've been interested in are controller-onlys.

Can you post a link to some of the store pages? I've never heard of a PC game being "controller only."
Maybe OP is mistaking "controller-friendly" with "controller-only". Steam store page has a "controller-friendly" category, but these games of course can be played without one.

Idk why but I laughed harder than I should when reading this.
I think Valve deleted the "controller-only" tag. I used to make a Dynamic Collection of these games in Steam Library; now I can't find this setting.

Maybe this option is present somewhere in Big Picture mode's interface, but I'm too lazy to search for it.

🤷 Laughing at all is probably harder than you should Dax, haha. It was just a question.

Glad you got a kick out of it though. Maybe you'll get lucky with an encore if I have to ask a follow up question.
It's slowly becoming more common, which really sucks. Even as someone who prefers controller over keyboard in 90% of cases anyways, the option is always nice.

Here's one!

There's also the Metal Gear collection, which doesn't have the tag on the store page like Ninja Gaiden did but I remember hearing a lot of people having problems with it not having proper keyboard + mouse support

I found this when I was looking through a general "Shinobi" search of the store.

It says it requires a controller because Mouse and Keyboard aren't supported. I've never heard of that before. Kinda wild.
Interesting the shop page actually says "Controller required". Haven't seen that before.

Ohhh.. that sucks. Thank you. That's really awful but I suppose makes sense from a greedy business perspective. They want to push their own gadgets I guess.
Not to excuse them but a game like Ninja Gaiden with keyboard sounds like hell so I don't fully blame them for not even bothering with it.
The option is always nice though, so it sucks it still isn't here. Hopefully these end up being a few small cases and not a new norm.

Doesn't Steam Input allow keyboard commands to be mapped to a virtual controller?
I can understand a port of an old game from awhile back not having good m+kb support, or maybe none, but I find it an interesting choice for a newer or upcoming game not to support m+kb.

From a programming perspective, other than being lazy or feeling like it would be too janky, there's no reason not to.

Huh. Anyway. All news to me, so today I learned.

I mean, it is true, that certain games simply do not make sense with some input methods. I would never want to try to play Europa Universalis IV with an X-Box controller either.

Notice: Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons requires a controller to play

I don't know how to see a list of games with this requirements.

But remake of this game can be played with keyboard too:

Maybe it was the remake?

Using a key binder comes to mind. You can map a controller to a keyboard if needed but it is a silly selling point.

Yakuza did it better with "controller preferred" but players could still use keyboards as an option.
