I miss the time before the internet.
When idiots weren't able to spread their deranged, immoral ideas en masse, like fleas spreading black plague. It's like a giant snowball effect where the idiots pile on top of each other, backing each other up and crushing the small single voices of reason down the hill.
As wise man said: "I wasn't aware there are so many idiots in the world untill I went online". Something like that, not word for word quotation. :P

dont connect to the internet then
I miss the old internet where social media wasn’t really a thing. I feel like things got worse once MySpace happened, which led to Facebook taking over the scene. Internet used to feel much bigger back then too.

That won't solve the problem you know. It's still going to be there, I'll just live in denial... Which isn't something I'd like to.

Simpler times. However, there are alterior motives at play.

Dearborn, Michigan's new mayor recently enabled sharia law similar to Austria, and a non-muslim was dragged out of their home and arrested for a Facebook post.

Heh, the fall of the Roman Empire all over again indeed.
I miss the early internet, it was a nice time where people were just learning about each other now its pretty much used for chaos. I miss the wholesomeness of it all
Back when YouTube was still in its infancy I was still watching iCarly. Good times.
Honestly early internet wasn't so bad, but that's because a lot of more hateful movements like those who'd be found flying swastikas were still public enemy and kept to their own little social circles.

No one's made the joke yet so is this when I get to say "back in my day we called that going to church"

The internet both is and isn't bigger than it was. The problem is that everything is centralized to a few websites now. Where there used to be multiple and everyone had their own personal website or blog, now everyone just make a bluesky/twitter account, or throws everything into their discord server and calls it a day.
Even forums are slowly fading. Outside of the steam forums, the only forumboards I know of that still see good activity are forums for Sonic, DOOM, and a general shmup board. Everything is just condensed within discords or steam itself now.
yeah really.

take a look at some older movies like ferus beullers day off, american graffiti, St. Elmo's Fire teen wolf, back to the future. anything from the 80's

youll see groups of people in the malls. streets bustling.

now all you see is people in 2's going straight for their business and straight home, all while in their little bubble.

what happened to.... society? :steamhappy:
Back to the woods I say. No seriously I feel same sometimes.

Perhaps, but the early internet inexorably leads to the current internet. :steamsad:

People have always spread their views. Before the net extremists sometimes used newspapers, or xeroxed or mimeographed their views and passed them out at airports or shopping malls.

Nothing's changed. At least with the net you can go to some other website and ignore the trash.

Not today.

Trump is authentic. Admit it.
