Chinese Gaming isnt interesting
I understand we played out japanese culture in gaming so much its like mush now but am i the only one who doesnt find chinese culture interesting like at all? dont get me wrong these games look very well made and some already well made like black myth wukong but is it interesting? not really no.

id rather have a Roman culture surge, where everyone wanted to make more roman type games. we've had this in the past but all of them flopped because not a single studio who made them were good studios. imagine a game produced in roman history just like these other chinese games are, it would top the charts.

That's like straight-up minus social score if I ever saw it ...
there are plenty of gems, Infinity Nikki might be my personal goty but it's a close call since stellar blade released for pc
I agree on Roman culture, there isnt enough, i would totally play something like a Kingdomecome deliverence but in the rome setting.

And i think chinese culture is extremely cool, havent seen any good games yet besides Black Myth wukong but the chinese movies like Crouching tiger hidden dragon are peak.
AAA chinese game devs are a relatively new thing, give it some time to brew. that being said i did think black myth wukong was class.

and actually, i do find chinese culture immensely interesting. one of the oldest in the world, with a long, long history of mythology and storytelling.

chinese games are good but when the setting is in ancient china not so much. the setting doesn't work very well with western players like japan does for some reason

i think the setting surrounding itself with the monkey prince was cool solely because it inspired dragon ball entirely for goku. but thats where my interests end with it. a kingdom come roma would be cool though or even a god of war roma or even a open world action i think would peak my interest even more. a setting where you grow up from childhood and get recruited as a spartan and you switch between battlefield to city life kinda drama would be insanely good. hell maybe a immortals adaptation into video games if youve ever watched that movie.
You talking about games that is chinese themed or games from china?

i agree western studios are doomed and cant be saved anymore so thats why we look towards foreign studios for success. i wish i had game dev knowledge so i could make a game, i do have inspirations of making a game but not the desire to make one myself but lead a project instead because ive written before. sadly regardless making a game nowadays that goes anywhere is extremely hard and most publishers are predatory.

I'm not a fan of it either. Roman and greek settings could be great but only with mythological (supernatural) elements. I mean I need fantasy. Without fantasy elements plain and simple roman or greek settings would easily be very boring and uninteresting imo, but with the right dose of fantasy elements they become wonderful!!!

i think its because ever since ww2 japan focused on international wonder and entertainment instead of military force because if you know the leaders of that time wanted to become a world power so they focused their efforts towards military prowess but then we dropped two nukes and then eventually the new leaders decided theyd win the war in cinema and entertainment instead. which id say they ended up winning.

i agree almost fully with this. although a good game about a slave who fights in the grand arena might be cool too if they do it right.
If we look at at games in China they are mostly "warring states, kung fu, wukong, mongols, cooking, and perhaps supernatural stuff". I'm not even trying to be funny. The only game I actually played was Dynasty Warriors; which was in of itself a decent game.

japan is really obsessed with themselves and their own history, just like china. but japan found out the best way to market that was to tell really over the top, insane stories and lean heavily into the more fantastical and romantic parts of their mythology and culture. china has done that too in the realm of film making to great success, but they have not quite done that in the world of video games yet.
