They got economic recovery.
They got an overall increase in employment since prior the recession.
He inherited a bad situation and fixed it. Nobody was going to be popular by fixing it initially.

Reagan won 49 out of 50 states in his 1984 reelection bid. He received 525 electoral votes while Mondale received 13.

Reagan was very popular. 

Reagan was a breath of fresh air, compared to the decade before.
Nixon, Ford and Carter were simply terrible. If you lived then, you know.

Reagan was the first time the US voters gave communism the biggest middle finger since WWII ended. Good to see it happen again.

If you think that's bad, consider Hillary Clinton (Democrat). She secretly bought the now debunked Steele Dossier and used it to get warrants to spy on Trump's campaign. Denied buying it, got caught, paid a fine.

Then after the election, once it was clear she couldn't win with recounts or electors, a national security council meeting was called six weeks after the election.

After the meeting, Obama called for a new rushed intelligence assessment to be released before Trump's inauguration. They stuffed the debunked Steele Dossier into the new assessment, briefed Trump on it, leaked it to the press, and then Comey opened the Mueller Investigation.

For three years the press found Trump guilty of Russian collusion - until it was finally found to be a nothing-burger.

Now Comey, Clapper, and Brennan are under a grand jury investigation. Maybe more. Obama himself ordered the rushed intelligence assessment.

That's worse than Nixon in my opinion.
