Woman danced on a flagpole in Turkey, faces time in jail
A Bosnian tourist filmed herself dancing on a Turkish flagpole in Cappadocia, sparking a criminal investigation that could lead to up to three years in prison under Turkey’s strict laws protecting national symbols.

Is the sentence too harsh or should tourists face prison when they disregard the customs of the land?

Tourists are subject to the laws of the country they are visiting.

And Cappadocia is a unique place in the world. Home to the fairy chimneys.

I think it's too harsh.

I don't think 3 years in prison is an appropriate punishment for this "crime".

Punishments should be harsher for foreigners, It’s common sense.

Agreed. Just watched the video. Seemed innocent. Could've been any pole.
Personally think it's stupid and harsh, but if you're visiting a country and you break a law then you only have yourself to blame.

I finally watched the video. I just don't see any offense, let alone a "crime" that warrants 3 years in prison (if that is even true).

The flag is sacred in Turkey as are the statues or portraits of the leaders.

If it is so sacred how come it's covered in stickers and junk
