Has there ever been a game developer/publisher that added a 3rd party launcher months or years after the game's launch on steam?
This is just out of curiosity. I was wondering if there has ever been any game on steam that started requiring the use of a 3rd party launcher months or even years after it was released on steam

Thank you

Not exactly what you were asking but the closest example I can think of is with the old GTA trilogy (GTA3, VC, SA), The originals which didn't require a social club account were removed from sale and replaced with the definitive edition remake which does require you sign up with rockstar

I think some publisher did a year or two ago, because I remember the uproar about it and how it ruined mods and all sorts of stuff. Can’t remember which publisher it was though or any of the games affected, sorry.

They got rid of the bethesda app and converted everyone's beth copies of FO76 into Steam copies, then they brought it back and you need to use the app for your steam copy, which wasn't originally a steam copy.
Total War games. There is a launcher for all of the Total War games collectively on Steam that was released in 2019 (the majority of Total War games were released before then I think)
