Biotech ‘to shift to China’ after US ‘own goal’ mRNA cuts
Migration of talent ‘already under way’ as experts predict decision will still delay development of vaccines.

America is going to majorly fall behind China over the next five years.

oh no
anyway
Why is the whole continent falling behind because of a bad decision by the US?

Other countries of America should deffinitely invest more to keep researchers here.

Specially countries like Mexico ans Brazil, which are large economies, and have no toruble in cooperating with either US or China.

Why? Was there a dsngerous breach? A pandemic of some sort?

I didn't pay much attention to the media in the last couple of years...

Well the only widespread instance of mRNA vaccines that I am aware of were the COVID vaccines and they pretty clearly didn't provide meaningful immunity or really any improvement over what a traditional vaccine may have accomplished.
mRNA is very imprecise when it comes to cutting selected genes, it is akin to using a machete where you need a scalpel, and will often affect other parts of the DNA strand that were not intended to be altered. Eventually the technology will be perfected, but even then the unknown consequences will not be felt until it is too late. GM foods and vaccines are just the beginning.

Cool.
Let us take one of the most advanced countries technologically and scientifically and by trade and by alliances and militarily and then trash it so some people can feel 'good' about themselves.

I doubt it will fall behind in just five years though.

The way the MAGA and obvious mentality of some people towards the MAGA ideals of - who knows - this will be a part in history where development of new machines of war will be critical to survival and they have done all they (MAGA) can to weaken the USA.

The gap has been proven to be far ahead...then things happen and it is now closing the gap between first and second.

BUT!

There is a silver lining.

The USA does have abundance of bored people.
A shift in their time towards electronics and drone hobbying will prepare the USA far more than a scientist at this stage.

With more drone and robotic production to meet the demands of the hobbyists - from USA Made - the easier it will be to recruit drone operators, repairers , builders , designers and shift factories to Drones of War and Recon and Medical / Logistics etc etc in times of need.

Patriots of the USA get buying and learning to use drones.
Reaganism.
Deactivated virus is the safer alternative, have fun china hope it works out

Hopefully then biotech companies will actually develop medicine that works, and not just buy the rights to already failed drugs which is what 95% of US biotechs do
