Overwatch's "Idealized World"
I was reading a thing about the history of Overwatch's development recently, and one of the big themes was the concept of an "idealized world". Specifically, I was looking up why so many of the characters have cybernetic limbs. This was a design choice made to serve disability representation and accessibility. They make similar choices in regards to LGBT representation, environmentalism, homelessness, etc.

But... if this is an idealized world, why are there guns? Why is there war? Why are robots trying to kill people? This is your idea of an idealized world? Robot death squads can mow down civilians, but you better not misgender them.

Just because the world you have to live in is awful, doesn't mean *you* have to be awful

One has to be even more inclusive as the world degrades.

its how we keep our humanity.
The idealization is surface deep, like the rest of left-wing beliefs.
I've never played Overwatch, but I recall reading a book in a near-utopia where all wars were fought in simulations rather than real life.
