Business : South African Import Restriction
South Africa's policy introduced in January 2025.

Import Duties were introduced at 35% on Frozen Chicken products.
This was to protect local farmers.
Two countries affected by this mainly are The USA and Brazil.

South Africa have also tightened regulations on the safety of the product which in my most humblest of opinions does not make me want to eat imported chicken from Brazil or the USA.

What do you think OT?

well i'm actually glad about it in a way. The problem with places like USA, is that their food products (fresh/frozen/tinned/manufactured) is full of all kinds of chemicals.

its a video showing the grotesque conditions many farm animals raised for slaughter or consumption live in. it is not only inhumane and cruel towards the animals, but it is the reason much of our animal product food is so disgusting.

No worries, maybe add a sentence or two about the video in future.

I thought that practice had ended.

thank you to the video clips Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. , that put me off eating chicken for awhile.
I don't have a problem with eating insects or whatever but that made me very uncomfortable watching how those chickens are raised.
It is not like we need to eat so much meat in the world.

*I don't go out of my way to eat insects, just if i had to!

i had a co-worker who was from D.C. (even used to skate with the guys from Minor Threat) and he said there's Mexican restaurants you can get chapulines which are fried grasshoppers and he said they weren't bad at all, but he is the adventurous type.

its a cost thing. it would cost a lot of money to have better treatment and conditions for these animals raised for slaughter, and pinching pence is what companies do best even when they do not need to. and then it is sold back to us at a profit for them.

so not only are these animals tortured when they COULD still be raised humanely even if intended for slaughter, but the meat and animal products we consume are often filled with horrific things that destroy our health. some countries like those of the UK, or germany, or usa have superior conditions compared to most countries.

but it is still not even close to perfect, sadly.
