if someone takes money from you by force, is it called tax?
if the govt takes money from you even though you don't want to give it to them, there's chunk of society who think this is ok
if some random person on the street or a group also takes money from you even though you don't want to give it to them then the same people might say they are thieves or a mob.
aren't they just taxing you?

when did large part of the population started to think it's ok for the kingdom, govt or whatever the ruling class name is to take money from the regular people?

it seems kind of evil to just take money from regular people
but some people think it's ok even if it has to be done by force
why? what am I not seeing?
Well, you wouldn't be able to make much money without a government. If every public commodity was privately owned and unregulated, the financial risk that you are taking for every dollar invested increases drastically.

It's just self-interest for a population to pay their taxes, and ensure they get a return on that investment as well.

Most governments give this money back if you are poor or below the taxation requirement to pay a percentage but most people get money back either way, although the poor get 100% back plus $1,200 here.

Thieves do not give money back unlike taxes the government takes, although retail sales tax, VAT, and food preparation tax seems more akin to thievery than income taxation but the money usually goes back into the economy.

Thieves will put the money back into the economy either for their own greed or to poison their communities and those around them but now we are getting awfully close to Prohibition and Liquor sales which is used to control people much like low wages and taxations.

When a government takes civilian weapons such as firearms, they have literally full control over that population because now those civilians cannot fight back which was one trigger of the American Revolutionary War.

You look at the countries that took civilians firearms away and you will see the authoritarianism.
How many nukes do the American public own?

the thieves may take the money to feed his poor family or to buy some sneakers, we don't know
we also don't know what the govt does with all the money

why does this matter?
if the money is going to be used for a supposedly good cause, then is it ok to take it from regular people by force?

Yes. And Trump promised to lower taxes, which is why federal agents in DC putting an end to strong-arm taxation on the streets.

you mean governments and thieves need to take money from regular people to exist?
I think people will still want to trade each other with or without a government or without someone taking money from them by force though

Sure. But now that the 87,000 armed IRS agents have been cancelled, the chances of someone actually holding a gun to your head when you file next April is significantly reduced.

you and Jacob Reese Mogg should get together some time.
Because taxes are used for the stuff everyone (even me) needs. Everyone needs roads, infrastructure, police, and firefighters. Is there sometimes corruption? Yeah.
No, it's called theft or robbery or a death wish.

I've seen plenty of roads built not exactly by the government
I get it, some people think nothing will ever exist without the government being involved

Of course they'll want to trade, but the infrastructure (physical, legal and otherwise) required for modern economies is completely impossible to maintain without public institutions. These institutions need to be accountable to all, so they need to be paid for by all.

You can have your anarcho-capitalist utopia in the same place you'll have your anarcho-communist one : a small commune.

The money has to come from somewhere. I don’t think police will get a lot of donations if they weren’t funded by the government.

it doesn't seem to work well
as we can see today a few corporations seem to own and be in control of everything just because regulations casually allow it to be like that
people work like crazy and achieve nothing
the system is very unfair

not sure why you want to pretend "omg if the government wasn't there taking money by force from the people it would be mayhem"
