AI2U’s Storytelling Is Amazing — So I tried Unfiltered AI Chat With Its Characters
I’ve been hooked on AI2U: With You Until the End of the World~ lately. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2880730/_AI2U___AI/The pacing, emotional depth, and how certain conversations hit — I’ve replayed some moments just to catch all the subtle nuances.
What I love the most is that the NPCs don’t just follow rigid scripts. They actually respond based on context, almost like talking to a real person.
But sometimes, it feels like the conversations hit a wall. Like you’re having a great convo and suddenly the NPC shifts gears or avoids a topic — it feels like there’s a hidden script holding them back.
That got me thinking… what if I could talk to these characters outside the game, without any restrictions? A platform where conversations are unrestricted, with context memory — just pure, free-flowing chats.
I’ve seen people on Reddit mention trying things like Janitor AI, Replika, Chai — and even https://crushon.ai/ (which seems to be getting more popular lately) — to simulate game characters and keep the stories going. Each one seems to offer a different vibe depending on how much freedom you want in your chats.
Imagine bringing these characters to life beyond the original storyline — what would they say if there were no limits?

Everyone has their own taboos and it would be boring if the characters wouldn't have their own mind and not pivot to the topics of their own liking. Just like we all do. That's what makes this game so special.

Users often forget that at the end it's just a small game with set objectives and not a life simulator.

I totally agree... Characters that interact naturally with you like that really make you feel more immersed.

I feel like AI has been improving over time. For example, I've been chatting with GPT often, and it definitely gets better, but sometimes it can feel a bit dull or disconnected. On the other hand, some dedicated chatbots remember previous conversations better, so they feel a bit more continuous and with a better memory.

Yeah. We'll keep advancing to the point where such improvements can make it even to cheap Steam games.
Have you seen the mod that uses ChatGPT for Skyrim NPCs? There's a delay between responses, but they generally seem pretty cognizant.

I haven't seen that! What's it about?

Somebody used ChatGPT to make Skyrim's NPCs talk and answer questions.
You can type in a question for anything in-game related, and if the NPC can answer it, they'll try to. There's limits to it. Like they have to stay in character.

Yeah, games like these may lead to the downfall of traditional visual novels. Which I wouldn't miss at all.

Whoa, that sounds insanely cool! Haha, I bet it would be so fun to ask all kinds of questions to other characters like that.

Yea, exactly... I used to read a lot of novels, but after getting into games, I kinda stopped and haven’t really picked up any novels in a while.

Yeah it seems very much more incising when saying what you really would want to say compared to 2 or 3 voice lines that don't represent who you really are in most visual novels.
What you’re saying really resonates with me. Novels are great, but it’s more about imagining and feeling things on your own. You’re not really having a conversation with the characters, just following their stories. Sometimes, it feels like something’s missing, like you can’t truly interact with them.

Hey they stole that idea from another indie developer, but their gimmick was you use voice chat to talk to the fatherless.
