How xbox failed.

A little history lesson for some younger fans of Xbox. How the last generation messed up so badly. Do people remmber watching it?
Microsoft lost a lot of momentum after the Xbox One launch. Instead of focusing on games, most of the reveal was about its TV features and entertainment options. It also cost $100 more than the PlayStation 4 because it was bundled with the Kinect a device with a camera always looking at you and your family somthing people did not trust, and it required an online check-in every 24 hours or you could not play games. On top of that, games were locked to your account, so you couldn’t share or resell them. These decisions pushed many players toward the PS4. Once people built up their digital libraries there, they naturally stayed with PlayStation when the next generation launched. By then, Xbox was already playing catch-up.

I remember kinect being a useless device but didnt knew it was even worse than that lol. The latests xbox still has kinect?

Ps still use the "ps move"?(i think it was the name) or they dont use any tracking stuff besides the needed for ps vr?

Although OP is right, they shouldve never had the momentum they did during the 360 days anyway.

90% of the "exclusives" were 1 month exclusives.
They started having to pay for online.
Every model of the 360, prior to the elite, shouldve been recalled.

Thank god they messed up with the x1. That brand has been trash since day 1.

Back in my DAY, we knew XBOX was gonna fail, but we still waited with bated breathe, hoping that for a single moment in time, Microsoft would do something positive. WE'RE STILL WAITING BTW

I knew they were doomed when they decided to charge a subscription for online, tried to force windows games to be linked to xbox accounts, went with HD-DVD instead of BR, etc.

It just allowed xbox users to pay much less money to play the latest games and as a result microsoft lost a lot of money that way.

Funny that I used EA play for 1 month when it was one dollar to play 4 or 5 games and from that moment I realized that these subscription services are bad financial wise for the developers.

It's funny, because these days a camera and mic seems to be standard features in a "smart" TV and people seem to be absolutely fine with that. Despite the fact there isn't any app to use em with.

Xbox was the original mobile gaming.The only completely braindead games that weren't on original Xbox were Last of Us and Witcher

Keeping them off Xbox was a good and smart thing. TLOU was a huge success and it helped to sell more playstations and helped to make playstation the giant that it is today.
