The USSR was also a key part in spearheading the decolonization movement in Africa, which saw the brutal and inhumane colonial governments which enslaved swathes of people lead by countries such as France, Spain, Britain, Portugal, and more be overthrown. Many in Africa are now free due in part from help from the USSR.
