Shock Treatment, The Film
I just watched Shock Treatment (again) this is the second time of watching it all the way through.

Made in 1981 it was considered by many as The Sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show.
And this did it a major disservice.

It was not a sequel and should be seen as an individual film.

The version I just watched had its sound and video cleaned up there are other version on the web that are a bit messy.

This time viewing it I focused on it and not playing a computer game on the side or scrolling through reuters/blomberg/sky/news and articles.

It is the sort of film that scares me.
The subject matter can be described in different ways on how you view it.
Take it at face value and it is scary, the complaint of one person turns into a mega show for everybody around them and nearly destroys the couple.

Then there is the view of This is like social media that is now an entertainment for each other and its constant arguments and crowd pleasing / calling shenanigans.

It is not as polished as Rocky Horror, there are some camera shots I would change.
BUT if you allow yourself to focus on it it becomes a clinically scary story.
There was one subplot that was unnecessary and detracted from the Mega Smack You in the Face scare of the media/social media/ crowd pleasing/ coercion .
The Subplot reveals itself later on and is not a biggy and it was a pretty good scene anyway just not necessary.

If you want a Sunday Musical Movie that is not Sound of Music, Shock Treatment might appeal to you.

*Rocky Horror was about one Obsessed Maniac.
Shock Treatment seems to me more about The CRowd becomina Maniacal and you have to go along if They Pick You! for their entertianment.

I've never seen this film, but my brother has and he thought it was okay.
But he felt the idea of Shock Treatment being a spiritual sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show was just odd.

Edit:
A spiritual sequel is a successor to a film or game that doesn't directly continue the first film's story nor does it follow the same characters.
Just in case if you didn't know what a spiritual sequel is. You're welcome.
