I haven't forgotten when they automatically, without permission, upgraded Windows 7 PCs to Windows 10 when they were left on standby.

I doubt it's beneath them to do that again, so it would be wise to find a way to internally disable Windows Update.

Oh gosh, you've evoked a flashback from my subconscious memory to that annoying popup that you'd get on Windows. I forgot how bad they were—I had to click off that ♥♥♥♥ 'every time' I started up the PC:
"Do you want to upgrade now?" Yes / Later
I'm happy that I left Microsoft; choice was only an illusion with them. No regrets on switching to Linux.

Yep, it was absolutely absurd. "Install now" or "Install tonight", they don't care whether you've got stuff to do or plans which require your computer to be available. Just terrible.

I am too dependent on many Windows-only programs to consider using Linux as a main OS, so I use AtlasOS for Windows 10 which I very much enjoy.

If it's for work, then boot Windows AtlasOS on a cheap second-hand laptop; don't subject yourself to having to tolerate Microsoft's delimitations on your main desktop.

I haven't used AtlasOS before; I personally wouldn't be comfortable with using a custom build that's based off a proprietary, closed-source Windows operating system when you would ultimately be better off just ditching Microsoft completely for something (like Linux) that isn't going to hold you back from a more complete—and much more stable—user experience.

I'd recommend LibreOffice[www.libreoffice.org] for work-related documents if that's what is holding you back, as it's compatible with Microsoft formats like Excel and Publisher—it's got a very active development community around it too.

Between AtlasOS, Tiny11 and GhostSpectre, I'm leaning towards Tiny11.

But I think I'll stick with 10 for a while longer.

https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat and https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 are mandatory in any case.

Just disable TPM in bios. It's what I did years ago to stop the nagging. To confirm it's disabled just go to Battlefield 6 steam page. It's also a good opportunity to block the game.

It should be against the law to not include a "no" option on these along with a "do not show this message again" tickbox.

There's a zillion things they do that should be against the law.

Yeah i updated to windows 11 because of that, But all 3 of my computers work quite well and not much really goes wrong, So i don't mind too much.

But if they try a subscription service I'm heading to linux.
Guess that will be Linux time. Unfortunately.

I love Linux.
Win12 cant come soon enough
I need to save money for a new PC. On my next system I will try out Bazzite. Depending on whether or not I like it, I may or may not break down and buy a copy of Windows 11.
If you enroll your PC into the Windows 10 Extended Support Updates program (ESU) you'll still be able to get the security updates for another year.
