You know what really grinds my gears?
People who poke fun at dumb thread topics like it's worthy of being in the news.

I've seen it so many times it makes my blood boil.

Improper use of the clutch during gear changes, usually.

And don't pull up too close to vehicles with a stick on slopes either.

Heh.

I only drive manual vehicles.

And I like to roll back on those people before the lights change.

Do they even make a lot of sticks anymore?

Speaking of cars: Maybe it's that time of the year to check our blinker fluid again??
What grinds my gears is we waste half the gasoline used annually to mow yards due to inefficiency of the hydrostatic drive using half the horsepower of the engine for an "automatic transmission" when the stick shift riding mowers of decades ago only needed less than half of the horsepower of today's riding mowers. That grinds my gears and we are a nation of re. Tards
"people who poke fun of topics...."

Explain, please. I honestly have no idea what you speak of.
There are a lot of idiots out there, they make my blood wanna boil and brain wanna rupture!
:mis_health:
but, I must change my gears and move on as quickly as I can, they're not worth my time or stress.

is that what they told you?

- Gas is cheap. Last i seen of it it is easily manufactured and distributed.

A couple Monkeys really just laid waste to the reality of the world is what you are saying?

by the way. that gasoline you speak of. Does not, and will not ever. compute to comparison to the dreg that is maiming vast swaths of land to bring energy to batteries that need recharging every 200 miles gathered.

I learned on a motorcycle, it is far easier once you grab the concept.

Not really. Cheapest one the market now is the Mazda3, but you have to buy the top trim and that's about $30k.

poor carborator efficiency as a part of planned obsolesence.

in the 70s this was a common feature of automatic transmission, now a lot of effort goes into recreating that issue.

I may need to head back to the garage and break out the tools.

100% true, ill take my old craftsman riding mowers, over some of these newer ones any day, that includes push mowers and all the yard equipment, they just dont make them like they used to and these newer ones simply dont run for decades upon decades, like the older ones.

the only actual problem in most cases, with keeping the older ones in use, is finding decks for them still in good condition, or fixable/weldable, or buying a new deck, that costs around the price you could buy a rider thats in great shape, but currently isnt running, which you can fixing up and sell for double+ the money you spent, or keep it, to each their own.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
(sears craftsman 2 kohler command 42" (14hp/OHV/single), LT 4000)
bought this one for $100, it ran, but with a broken stabilizer bracket (welded bracket on deck, needed re-welding), that was maybe 9 years ago and its decades old..., had to replace deck recently, but... new decks are expensive and used are as well, depending on where you can find one and if its in good shape, though i still have the old one, that can be fixed (dropped the "anchor" weld (center brackets that hold it up), could like sell it for $500/$600 if i can get a deck for it, also swapped in new led bulbs, instead of incandescent.

--------------

(sears craftsman 2 die hard briggs and stratton 42" (18hp/opposed twin), LT 4000)
i bought this one for $300, didnt run, had a good deck, came with a $400 bagger, blew fuses when you tried starting, replaced switch, reconnected wiring, replaced steering collar, fixed/welded and painted the deck that came with it, runs like a champ (could probably sell it for $600/$700, without the bagger (add $100/$200) depending, got it a few months ago, its just as old as the one above, also swapped in new led bulbs, instead of incandescent.

--------------

also to note, both riding mowers above, are about 90% or so interchangeable, when it comes to parts and the engines, though the shifting gear spot, gas tanks/batteries are swapped so they arent as easy to interchange as everything else.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

have a crafstman chipper/shredder as well, though havent bothered looking at model/etc.. (surprisingly), as it has never had an issue running and its just as old as the riders.

got several craftsman push mowers as well, just as old, still running, have only had to do some welding on the bodies and some paint.

even grabbed me a sthil sf 55 straight shaft, for $80, things runs great, isnt hard to start, have only replaced the carb.

also to note, one of my neighbors bought an almost 100yr old farm tractor, thing runs and everything, just need a 12v conversion, or sprucing of the 6v for original sake and a paint job.

yard equipment is quite fun to work on, but even more so, if you can double or more, what you paid for it.

though, the older the equipment, the harder it is to find parts, substitute/compatible part, or somewhere that can fab a part for you, or go the cheap knockoff parts, from over seas...

as for the newer, stuff..... they build them horrible, some even using plastic gears, or these really new ones, that you dont change the oil in, they make them cheap, so they break, then you cant fix them and are forced to buy new ones.. :cqlol:

as with everything, im up for fixing and using stuff, till it cant be, which means less money wasted, new skills learned, less e-waste, etc.., be it electronics/soldering, cars, small engines, houses and all they entail, or anything else, you can fix yourself.

anywho, have fun and a great day
