I have only heard the name, not sure what he does though. But rest assured, he will be forgotten in 20 years when the next streamer can play video games or eat food in front a camera better than him (I'm assuming that's what he does. All streamers are the same)

Most people watch let's plays and live streams for the commentary. It's not even a recent phenomenon . Ever heard of Mystery Science Theater 3000? It was a show from the 80's-90's that had the a similar concept. But instead of watching other people play games, you were watching the hosts watch ♥♥♥♥♥♥ movies and making jokes throughout.

I've never watched him (or, really, any other streamer that people base whole-ass personalities and philosophies on).

All I know, I know from threads here, or the occasional article on gaming sites.

It really isn't.
People like him because he has a lot of good takes. People actually get up to date news from Asmon in a better format than the mainstream media sites.
You also get people from those countries where a revolution is going on talking about it in the comment section too.

For me it sounds like all of you have only heard the the few bad stuff but people will naturally amplify it by a thousand percent because they hate Asmongold or just because he's a Youtuber.
