Xbox ads will spread over the years.
Xbox is now testing ads in its cloud gaming service. At first, it might sound harmless a free version where you just have to watch a short ad before playing. But this is how it always starts. Two minutes of ads today could turn into longer breaks tomorrow, then ads between sessions, or even product placements in menus and loading screens.

Once ads become part of the experience, they tend to spread. It’s only a matter of time before they creep into more areas, even for paying subscribers. What begins as a “free with ads” option can slowly blur into “premium with fewer ads.”

It’s disappointing to see one of the world’s richest companies trying to squeeze more from players instead of rewarding loyalty. When you start putting ads into something people already pay for, it’s not about improving the service it’s about finding new ways to monetize every moment of your time.

I think porting all games over to Steam will save them from their inevitable doom. At least you can run steam on so many devices. Xbox has it's streaming thing which is cool, but expensive and will be it's achilles heal.
There can be no quarter or compromise given where ads are concerned. I learned that back with the Verizon zombie cookie scandal.

If I see ads for a subscription, I cancel said subscription.

The whole point of paying for the subscription was to NOT see ads, so if there are blatant ads, the purpose of the subscription is no longer relevant, and me and my money will go elsewhere.

People need to vote with their wallets and grow a backbone, knowing that they may have to "miss out on something" if it means enough people do it to make things better in the long run. :SafeForWork:

the only way I can think of to mock advertising is to repeat the last ad that made me stop using youtube again.
Xbox raises the prices for the consoles and subscriptions, and now this? Huge L for Xbox.

oh my godd, microsoft's most poorly-performing sector is performing more poorly; their monopoly is losing its grip, it might not even be a monopoly anymore.

or.... and hear it out....

they could "not buy" AND "complain" about it, so companies hear that we dont want their garbage ads?

or companies like samsung, who are going to feed you ads on your refrigerators and similar appliances, if they happen to have screens?

or wanting to feed ads, to anything connected to an hdmi port?

have a nice day

As much as I like my 360, Xbox is the root of all gaming problems.
maybe its time to install that ad proxy filter box you been putting off
I’m waiting for YouTube to play ads whilst you’re watching your video. For example it’s a split screen. 1 side is an ad and 1 side is the actual video.
